South Dakota’s Technology Related Assistance Services Program

Please bookmark the DakotaLink home page for future reference. Like assistive technology, we are constantly changing and updating information.

DakotaLink is a statewide program of resources and supports that enable individuals in South Dakota greater access to assistive technology devices and services, to maintain independence, to explore funding options, and to become educated about assistive technology issues.

This includes:

  • Individuals with functional limitations who need assistive devices and/or services of any age
  • Parents or caregivers of people who need assistive devices and/or services
  • Professionals who need assistive technology information
  • Employers and Employees
  • Students and Educators

DakotaLink’s goal is to expand the availability of Assistive Technology devices and services through a consumer-directed, consumer-responsive Statewide program of Technology Related Assistance.

DakotaLink can provide product information on Assistive Devices and specializes in providing installation, setup and training on equipment for computer access. DakotaLink has Nationally Certified Technology Specialists who can provide on-site evaluations or services at one of the four statewide demonstration centers to determine the most economical and feasible equipment to best serve individual needs. Staff is also available for presentations, training activities, and technical assistance.

DakotaLink is a program of the South Dakota Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services administered by Black Hills Special Services Cooperative and funded in part through a grant from the United States Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services through the Rehabilitation Services Administration under Public Law 108-364, referred to as the Assistive Technology Act of 2004 or the Assistive Technology Act of 1998, as amended.
