Hello and welcome to CoreFacts, where we're always short on
time and big on science. I'm Steve Sobieszczyk. Today we're bringing another
good question about maps and aerial photos.
How do I get aerial photographs of where I live?
To get information on how to get aerial photographs, visit
the How to Obtain Aerial Photographs Fact Sheet in our show notes (http://erg.usgs.gov/isb/pubs/factsheets/fs08199.html)
which includes a checklist of information needed for Earth Science Information
Center staff to search our databases for available photographs.
Photographic reproduction of images from the USGS film
archives ceased on September 3, 2004. However, aerial photographs can be
ordered in either of two digital formats through EarthExplorer.
For those who specifically need paper or film products,
there is a list of USGS Business Partners in our show notes (http://store.usgs.gov/cgi-bin/choosebylocation.pl)
who provide aerial photographic research and image printing services.
And now you know. Join us every weekday for a new CoreFact.
If you have a question you think we should answer on the air, email it to us at
corefacts@usgs.gov or leave us a
voicemail at 703-648-5600; don't forget long distance fees do apply.
