The Small Area Health Insurance Estimates (SAHIE) program's methodology and experimental estimates have undergone internal U.S. Census Bureau review as well as external review. Our preliminary research was evaluated favorably by the 2002 Census Advisory Committee of Professional Associations. In February-April of 2005 representatives from other federal agencies, the State Data Centers (SDCs), the Federal and State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates (FSCPE), and the University of Minnesota's State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) participated in a formal evaluation of our methodology and experimental estimates.
We would like to thank the participants in this review process. The feedback was useful in directing our attention to specific issues and for informing our thinking generally. Based on the comments received we have made improvements to the methodology and have ideas for future research. We are continuing to make enhancements to our estimation methods and welcome additional feedback. If you would like to provide comments or ask questions please see the feedback page.
