Regarding: Jewelry Guides, Matter No. G711001 I strongly urge the FTC to adopt new rules that would permit resonable marking and disclosure for the new alloys of precious metals that have been developed in recent decades. The so-called "karated platinum" alloys, pt .585, Silver alloyed with platinum, mokume-gane, and articles that combine platinum with gold or gold with silver, or any other materials for that matter should be allowed to be marketed and fully disclosed to the consumer. There is no good reason to stifle the development of new materials or combinations of materials just because outdated rules about how they should be marked and labeled.
