Research
Ongoing research projects:
  • Virtual Functional Anatomy
The Virtual Functional Anatomy project is designed to fill the important knowledge gap that exists regarding the relationship between impaired joint function and the movement limitations associated with performing activities of daily living. Our current focus is to develop and ultimately validate a combined set of tools that will enable the accurate and precise measurement, analysis and visualization of three-dimensional (3D) static and dynamic musculoskeletal anatomy using MRI imagery.
  •

Hypertonia in Children with Cerebral Palsy
This project investigates the nature of hypertonia (increased joint resistance to externally imposed motion) and track its origins in spasticity, dystonia, rigidity, or a combination of these factors in order to classify the different types to optimize treatment interventions.
  •

    Proprioception and Sensory Motor Initiative
This initiative examines the influence of bi-articular muscles on limb awareness. There are two approaches: 1) using ultrasound to study muscle architecture during movement and 2) conscious awareness of a limb.
