Construction of Sport Facilities Offers Huge Business Opportunities
August 19 - (CEIS)

A world-famous finance company will become the financial consultant for the first stage land development of the 2008 Olympic Games facilities.

An official with the coordination committee for the development of the first stage of Olympic Games projects said Pricewaterhouse, one of the top five finance companies in the world, has won the bid recently to offer financial consultation to the projects.

The first-stage development of the Olympic Games facilities will cover a land area of 2.91 square kilometers. The cost is budgeted at 10 billion yuan (1.2 billion US dollars).

The coordination committee began inviting bids worldwide earlier this year to be the finance consultant. Through appraisals by the Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing Finance Bureau, Beijing Auditing Bureau, Beijing Supervision Bureau and Beijing Land and Real Estate Administration, Pricewaterhouse was chosen.

"Pricewaterhouse has undertaken financial consultation for the 2000 Sydney Games and is now offer service for the 2004 Athens Games. These experiences, plus its practical financial solutions and its detailed preparations, are the reasons our company won," said an official with Pricewaterhouse's Beijing office. He said the event signals that Beijing's Olympic Games is an open market for companies worldwide that can participate fairly in the competition.

According to Li Lin, vice-director of the Beijing Land and Real Estate Administration and vice-chairman of the coordination committee for the first-stage development of the Olympic Games projects, the budget of 10 billion yuan will be used to buy land and relocate residents and companies, and urban facilities.

According to the Organizing Committee of the Beijing Olympic Games, significant dollars will be spent on the construction of sports facilities, the Olympic Games Village and the New Center.

This, plus huge investment in urban and other related facilities, means big opportunities for businesses at home and abroad.
