General
- Comprehensive Student Support System ... multifaceted program that looks at whatever
slows student progress and seeks remedies to enhance
the
school's academic, social, emotional, and physical environments so all students succeed.
Note: CSSS is not just for "at-risk",
but for ALL students. Even good students can have bad patches (i.e. a death in the family, a fight with their
best friend, some academic concept they just can't get) and CSSS, when it's functioning correctly, can help
those students as well as those traditionally identified as at-risk or Special Education.
- ELL... English Language Learners
Special Needs
- Special Education ... links to the Special Education
section, Hawai'i Center for the Deaf and Blind, Felix Support System Implementation Plan, special education teacher
recruiting, and special education teacher alternative recertification program, and related references from the
Board of Education library.
- Native Hawaiian Special Education Project: Pihana Na Mamo ... a
program to improve educational services to native Hawaiian students with special needs. Managed by School Renewal
Branch
