OSM NEWS U.S. Department of the Interior Office of Surface Mining Nov 14, 1995 URAM ANNOUNCES OSM POINTS OF CONTACT DURING FURLOUGH/GOVERNMENT-WIDE SHUTDOWN Robert J. Uram, Director of the Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM), has designated four senior OSM officials as the agency's points of contact for emergency or imminent harm situations for the duration of the government-wide furlough period announced today. Klein, Regional Director, Appalachian Region Coordinating Center, Pittsburgh, PA, (412) 937-2828. -- Brent Wahlquist, Regional Director, Midwest Region Coordinating Center, Alton, IL, (618) 463-6460. -- Richard J. Seibel, Regional Director, Western Region Coordinating Center, Denver CO, (303) 672-5501. "Should any emergency or imminent harm situation arise during this period, I urge all OSM customers to contact one of these officials so that we may immediately respond to the problem, within the constraints of our reduced capacity during the shut-down period," Uram said. In addition, to the four named contact officials, OSM will have a disbursement officer, a certifying officer, and a systems computer operator available on stand-by, according to Uram. "No emergency or imminent harm situation will go unattended during this period," Uram emphasized. "In an emergency, OSM stands ready to call upon whatever resources are necessary to address the situation." Uram added that a system will be in place to contact key employees as needed. -OSM-
