Civil War Roundtable Celebrates Veterans and 145th Anniversary of the Seige of Knoxville Nov. 7-9
The Knoxville Civil War Roundtable will present its annual Living History Weekend at Fort Dickerson Park November 7-9, 2008 to celebrate veterans, past and present and commemorate the 145th Anniversary of the Siege of Knoxville. The park is located just off Chapman Highway in South Knoxville at 3000 Fort Dickerson Road. This free event is hosted by the Civil War Round Table and sponsored by the City of Knoxville's Parks and Recreation Department.

Veteran's Day ParadeThe American Legion Knoxville Post 2 presents the 83rd Veterans Day Parade on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 10:45 a.m. along Gay Street in Downtown Knoxville. A moment of silence will be observed in Knoxville and all across America promptly at 11:00 a.m. Free parking available at the Civic Coliseum Garage.

Buddy's Race Against Cancer
Buddy's Bar-B-Q Race Against CancerMake the race against cancer your mission at Thompson Cancer Survival Center's 15th annual BUDDY'S Race Against Cancer. Event is set for Sunday, Nov. 16 at World's Fair Park and features a 5K Walk 'n Run and one-mile "Walk in the Park." Proceeds from the BUDDY'S Race benefit Thompson's Cancer Outreach Services program, which provides thousands of free and low-cost cancer screenings and education to the medically underserved throughout East Tennessee. This year's goal is to raise $375,000 and have 4,500 participants.

Christmas in the City 2008 Unveiled

The City of Knoxville's Christmas in the City celebration will be bigger, brighter and better than ever in 2008 including roughly 100 different events and attractions on a calendar stretching from November to New Year's Eve. Mayor Bill Haslam unveiled the 2008 Christmas in the City lineup – featuring dozens of offerings ranging from dazzling displays of lights to outdoor ice skating on Market Square to concerts, dramatic performances, Christmas services and a parade – during a late afternoon press event at Krutch Park Extension.
