ArrowCareer Opportunities

The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory employs a diverse work force that includes scientists, machinists, engineers, administrators, writers and even artists. The Lab is an exciting and international place to work and study, where on any given day you can hear English, Chinese, Russian or French, to name just a few, spoken in our halls.

At work at the Mag Lab.
Our staff includes scientists, machinists, engineers, administrators, writers and artists.

The main campus of the Magnet Lab is based in Tallahassee near the campus of Florida State University. About 450 people are employed by or are affiliated with the lab’s Tallahassee facility. When you include the Magnet Lab branches at the University of Florida and Los Alamos National Lab, that number jumps by another 100.

Diversity

The management of the lab shares the National Science Foundation’s strategic goal of increasing the number of minority and underrepresented students who pursue careers in science. Our ongoing efforts and partnerships will help groom the next generation of scientists by giving them experiences that they would not be able to get otherwise.

The Magnet Lab is committed to diversity in all areas of its facility, from undergraduates to faculty, technicians to professional staff. That commitment is put into practice through the lab’s Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan.
