United States Marshal William Carey Jenkins was appointed by President George W. Bush as the United States Marshal for the Middle District of Louisiana on February 14, 2002. Marshal Jenkins is a long time resident of the Baton Rouge area. He is a graduate of Central Private High School and briefly attended Nicholls State University. Marshal Jenkins has twenty-five years of combined Federal and local law enforcement experience.

Marshal Jenkins began his law enforcement career in 1980 as a Deputy Sheriff for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. His first assignment was in the Corrections and Prisoner Transportation Division. Upon graduation from Louisiana State University Post Certified Law Enforcement Academy, Marshal Jenkins was promoted to the narcotics division where he remained until his departure in 1987.

Prior to his appointment, Marshal Jenkins served as a Deputy United States Marshal from 1987 to 2002. His first assignment was to the Eastern District of Louisiana. In 1990 he transferred to the Middle District of Louisiana. Marshal Jenkins also served as a member of the United States Marshals Service Special Operations Group from 1987 to 1996.

Marshal Jenkins is a member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association and the National Sheriffs Association.
