William Thigpen

As chief of the NAS Engineering Branch, William W. (Bill) Thigpen oversees division work that supports advanced systems development, network research, and NAS workplace environments. Before joining the division management team in September 1999, he worked for Sterling Software Inc. at the NAS Facility, leading the advanced systems development group and managing technical teams that provide high-speed computing capabilities and services to NASA researchers.

Thigpen led the Y2K compliance effort for NASA Ames Research Center's Information Sciences and Technology Directorate. His 17-year career supporting government contracts includes software engineering and mission support management. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Nebraska.
