ALASKA WATER INDEX

This index is a list of sites throughout Alaska (see map above) at which streamflow, lake-level, and water-quality data have been collected by the USGS.

This index does not contain the actual data; it lists types of data collected and dates of data collection for the sites. Two types of tables are available for each hydrologic sub region shown on the map:

Streamflow tables list the stream discharge and stream water-quality records.
Lake tables list the lake-level and lake water-quality records.

How to Use the Index

  1. Download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat" software and install it on your PC.  This is required to view these tables.
  2. Right Click on the appropriate file below and choose "Save link as" or "Save target as" to save it to your hard drive.
  3. View the table by double clicking on it when it is on your hard drive. This will start the adobe acrobat view program.
  4. Make a note of the station identification number(s).
  5. Retrieve the data by following the links below, using the station ID in the request.

If would like a hard copy of these tables please contact Eric Kletka.  The tables are now available in PDF format for viewing with Adobe Acrobat. 

All of the reports were last updated in 1997.

In addition to computer retrieval, data have been published in a series of annual reports, "Water Resources Data for Alaska"  since 1961 for streamflow records and since 1964 for lake levels and water-quality records.
