Reactors: For their fundamental contributions to the discovery and understanding of the phenomenon of etching charged particle tracts in solids, for the imaginative development of that technique, for the detection and study of latent tracts registered in a variety of solids, and for the ingenious application of the technique to a wide range of problems in a broad spectrum of scientific fields including nuclear fuel development, archaeological dating, the search for super-heavy elements in nature, cosmic ray research, nuclear materials safeguards, and neutron dosimetry.
