Washington, DC— The U.S. Senate Thursday passed a resolution introduced by U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein (both D-CA) congratulating The California State University Fresno Bulldogs baseball team on winning the 2008 NCAA Division I College World Series.
Senator Boxer said “I would like to congratulate the Cal-State Fresno Bulldogs on winning the College World Series. The team, their coaches and fans showed remarkable heart and fortitude, even as many counted them out of this championship. The Bulldogs have brought great pride to the City of Fresno and all of California -- I am honored to congratulate them in this way.”
“I know how much this championship means to the city of Fresno and all of California. So, I’m so proud that this group of underdogs overcame tough odds to win their first NCAA World Series,” Senator Feinstein said. “The Bulldogs represent the kind of hard work, determination, and sportsmanship that exemplify the best in college sports. I congratulate them and wish them great success in the future.”
On June 25, 2008, The Cal-State Fresno Bulldogs triumphed over the University of Georgia, two games to one in a three-game series, to claim victory in the 2008 College World Series. In game two, the Bulldogs overcame a five-run deficit and won 19 to 10, forcing a decisive game three.
