Background
Barb has been a Research Chemist at the Northwest Fisheries Science Center since 1990. She received a B.S. in Chemistry from Eastern Washington University in 1989. Her work is primarily focused on the effects of contaminants in fish. She has extensive field experience and has been involved with the utilization of several bioindicators of exposure, including measurements of DNA damage and endocrine disruption.

Current Research
Barb's recent research focuses on the neurotoxicity of anthropogenic contaminants in fish. She is currently contributing to a study determining the effects of exposure to pesticides (alone and in mixtures) on acetylcholinesterase levels and behaviors in juvenile coho salmon. She also supports research efforts investigating 1) the effects of carbaryl exposure on cutthroat trout and 2) pre-spawn mortalitity in coho salmon returning to urban streams.
