Christopher
Hansen Named National
Home-Based Business Advocate Of The Year
President, Home-Based Business Council, Neptune City, N.J.
WASHINGTON, D.C. Mr. Christopher Hansen, president of the Home-Based Business Council of Neptune City, N.J., has been named the National Home-Based Business Advocate of the Year by the Office of Advocacy of the SBA. He received the award for his outstanding advocacy efforts on behalf of home-based businesses.
"Christopher Hansen is an extraordinary advocate for home-based businesses," said Thomas M. Sullivan, Chief Counsel for Advocacy. "By founding the Home-Based Business Council, and the New Jersey Partnership for Work at Home, and organizing of the New Jersey Coalition for Jobs and Entrepreneurship, hes fought against the outmoded notion that entrepreneurs harm communities, rather than help them. Hes a great addition to the small business team," he said.
The award is given to an individual who has experienced the rewards and difficulties of home-based businesses and has volunteered to improve the climate for home-based businesses. Evaluation criteria include volunteering time and energy to improve the conditions for home-based businesses, engaging in entrepreneurial training, demonstrating interest in home-based businesses, and achieving measurable accomplishments in advancing home-based businesses.
The Office of Advocacy annual awards include Entrepreneurial Success, Financial Services Advocate, Home-Based Business Advocate, Minority Small Business Advocate, Research Advocate, SBA Young Entrepreneur, Small Business Exporter, Small Business Journalist, Veteran Small Business Advocate, and Women in Business Advocate.
National Advocate award winners will be honored during the National Entrepreneurship Conference & Expo, held September 15-20, 2003, in Washington, D.C.
The Office of Advocacy examines the role and status of small business in the economy and independently represents the views of small business to Congress and the President.
