In 1943, more than 6000
workers began construction of some 150 buildings that became known
as Oak Ridge National Laboratory. As we celebrate ORNL's 60th anniversary,
we are literally rebuilding the laboratory. The $300-million modernization
plan, in addition to the $1.4-billion Spallation Neutron Source,
will make it possible for ORNL to attract the next generation of
world-class scientists to Oak Ridge. |
