• A call for proposals was sent out by the Coastal Marine Institute.  Letters of intent are due October 5 and proposals are due December 14.  Kevin Bailey and Janet Duffy-Anderson working on a proposal to examine ichthyoplanton distributions in bays around Kodiak Island that are nursery areas for flatfish. Others who may be involved in this project are Brenda Norcross, Al Stoner, and other University of Alaska researchers.

• SEBSCC's synthesis working group met for two days last week.  A draft meeting report may be acessed through the Science category on the SEBSCC web site (http://www.pmel.noaa.gov/sebscc).  The Pribilof Islands working group is arranging a meeting for September.

The next FOCI PI meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, 13 September 2001, in the Cloud Chamber (3/2065). Please submit to Allen Macklin, no later than the day before the meeting, agenda items and fax-ready copies of figures or handouts that you intend to present at the meeting. Alternately, presentation materials may be posted on the WWW or e-mailed to remote participants before the meeting.
