We're LIVE and it's EARLY at the North Shore Cattle Ranch above Haleiwa. The cows even mosied over to see what was going on so early in the morning! It's Buy Fresh, Buy Local time!

Lum Family

Doc Lum watched the show from home that early morning.

North Shore Cattle Company was founded in 1997 by Doc and Kay Lum.  The 1,100-acre ranch overlooks the entire scenic North Shore.  It is the largest commercial grass-fed cattle operation on Oahu and they produce 100% Hawaii grown Angus beef.  No antibiotics or hormones are used on these cattle.  The cattle graze on natural grass pastures and are kept calm and contented in the foothills of the Koolau Mountains.

Grilling
Ryan grills up some of their 100 percent grass-fed beef which is part of their famous North Shore Cattle Loco Mocos!!

North Shore Cattle beef is dry aged with all cuts of beef available, from lean ground beef to filet mignon to andouille beef sausages.  Noted local chef Alan Wong calls it “the best hamburger you will ever eat.”  And KITV's Dan Meisenzahl can attest to that as he demolished a plate of their famous Loco Moco - steaming rice with a 1/2 lb. hamburger patty, topped with a fried egg and a fabulous special gravy.

Ryan talks, Dan eats
Ryan has the mic as Dan devours the Loco Moco, which is a favorite of many who frequent the KCC Farmers' Market where you can find North Shore Cattle grills ablazing.

The North Shore Cattle Company also operates a burger stand at Dole Plantation in Helemano, Oahu, and a restaurant, the Paniolo Grill at Coral Creek, in Ewa Beach. Additionally, The North Shore Cattle Company’s beef is served at select restaurants throughout Oahu.

The grass-fed beef can be purchased at the farmers’ market at Kapiolani Community College on Saturday mornings and the Kailua farmers’ market on Thursday evenings. The products are available at Tamura’s Supermarket in Wahiawa, Tamura’s Fine Wines in Kaimuki and Tamura’s Superette in Hauula. Visit www.beefhawaii.com for direct sales.

Kids & Paniolo
Alakai and Noelani woke up at 2:30 a.m. to be part of the Buy Fresh, Buy Local segment.  They are riding Pono and are flanked by their favorite paniolo.
