Paul Clark |
RSVP -- Duval County, FL |
|
For the 14 years he has lived in Cathedral Towers, a senior citizens housing complex in Jacksonville, Fla., Paul Clark has undertaken a variety of volunteer activities, including serving as an RSVP Floor Captain in his building. A floor captain’s duties include keeping his neighbors up-to-date on functions, events, and volunteer opportunities. Clark posts notices on the doors of apartments on his floor to keep everyone informed. He also keeps track of the time his neighbors put in as RSVP volunteers, and submits the forms to the staff at the Singleton Senior Center where the Duval County RSVP is based. Clark provides transportation for other volunteers to get to assignments, runs monthly meetings to discuss issues that have come up in the neighborhood, and does shopping for residents who are unable to get out to do their own. Typically, he puts in between 50 and 80 hours a month. A Jacksonville resident since 1951, he was recently honored as Jacksonville’s Senior Volunteer. |
