Health Publications about Autism and Related Disorders

Understanding autism spectrum disorders is one of the top priorities for the NICHD. The Institute produces a number of publications on autism and related disorders, in both English and Spanish. These materials describe current knowledge about ASDs and related disorders, their causes, their diagnoses, and their possible treatments. The publications also highlight some of the current research on these topics currently being supported by the NICHD.

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), in collaboration with the NICHD, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Special Care Dentistry recently developed a series of publications about oral health for those with developmental disabilities. These publications offer important information for health care providers and caregivers about quality oral care for those with different developmental disabilities, such as autism, Down syndrome, and mental retardation.
