NMFS Prohibits Directed Fishing for Pacific Ocean Perch in An Area of the Western Aleutian District of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting directed fishing for Pacific ocean perch in the area delineated by straight lines connecting the coordinates in the order listed:


East Buldir Island, in decimal degrees 52.4 N. 176.0 E.
52.3 N. 176.0 E.
52.3 N. 176.4 E.
52.4 N. 176.4 E.
East Buldir Island, in degrees minutes 52 24' N. 176 0' E.
52 18' N. 176 0' E.
52 18' N. 176 24' E.
52 24' N. 176 24' E.

effective at 12 noon, Alaska local time, July 11, 2007, according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to limit incidental catch of rougheye rockfish and prevent exceeding the 2007 overfishing limit of rougheye rockfish in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(3)(ii).
