Please note: The Department of Health Disability and Health Program does not provide any disability benefit payment programs. Benefits available through other state agencies are described below.
Benefits if Injured Off the Job
If you are disabled by an off the job illness or injury, New York State disability benefits insurance through the State Insurance Fund provides temporary cash benefits to eligible wage earners. Disabilities arising from pregnancies may also be covered. For more information visit ww3.nysif.com/DisabilityBenefits.aspx. On the Job Injuries
If you are injured on the job you may be eligible for Workers' Compensation coverage. Visit the New York State Workers' Compensation Board site at www.wcb.state.ny.us/content/main/workers/InjuredWorker.jsp for more information. You may also call the Workers' Compensation Board toll-free at 1-800-353-3092.
Social Security
Visit Social Security Online at www.ssa.gov/onlineservices/ for information on their programs. You can find out if you are eligible for any Social Security benefits at connections.govbenefits.gov/ssa_en.portal and apply for Social Security Disability benefits at www.ssa.gov/applyfordisability/index.htm .
