CAMPAIGN BACKGROUNDThe Heart Truth campaign began in response to recommendations from more than 70 experts in women's health who met in March 2001 to develop a national action plan to reduce heart disease's toll on American women.
The campaign was developed with input from partner organizations and groups of women brought together for special sessions in locations across the country. These focus groups strongly endorsed the urgent need to tell women about their risk of heart disease. As one woman said, The Heart Truth "shows youwhether you want to see it or notthat it's about you. You may want to hide from it, but it's showing you what the truth is."
