Administration Maintains Focus on Infrastructure Improvements

Maintaining her Administration's focus on investing in critical infrastructure and capital improvement projects, Governor Lingle released $11 million in construction funds to replace field lighting transformers and portions of the metal roof deck at the Aloha Stadium.

Part of ongoing improvements designed to refurbish and modernize the 33-year-old facility, the project will replace portions of the metal roof deck in sections FF to KK and RR to T, and also cover the replacement and relocation of all roof-mounted, field lighting transformers. The balance of the metal roof deck will be replaced incrementally by sections over the course of several years to work around Aloha Stadium’s busy seasons.

"This project is critical to ensuring the continued safety of stadium spectators, workers and event participants," said Governor Lingle.

Also this week, Governor Lingle released $1,560,000 to dredge the inner harbor basin area of Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor on Kaua`i.

The state has partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to undertake several improvements at Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor. In addition to dredging work, these upgrades include the construction of a higher breakwater to provide greater protection for the inner harbor and other navigational enhancements.

"This project will make Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor safer for recreational and commercial boaters and is in line with efforts by our Administration to upgrade and expand small boat harbors statewide and improve state infrastructure on all islands," said Governor Lingle.

The Governor also released $910,000 in design and construction funds to reroof the Kahuku and Waimanalo Public Libraries on O`ahu, and for air-conditioning improvements at Kahului Public Library on Maui and Lana`i Public and School Library on Lana`i.
