You can send e-mail to anyone at ARRL Headquarters if you know their name or call sign. The second half of every Headquarters e-mail address is @arrl.org. To create the first half, simply use the person's call sign. If you don't know their call sign, use the first letter of their first name, followed by their complete last name. See the list of ARRL email addresses for examples.
If all else fails, send e-mail to hq@arrl.org and it will be routed to the right people or departments.
Technical Information Service answers questions of a technical nature. Questions may be submitted via e‑mail ( tis@arrl.org ); Fax (860‑594‑0259); or mail (TIS, ARRL, 225 Main St, Newington, CT 06111). The TIS also maintains a home page on ARRLWeb: http://www.arrl.org/tis . This site contains links to several technical areas:
You'll also find the ARRL on the World Wide Web at http://www.arrl.org/. ARRLWeb carries the latest W1AW bulletins, a hamfest calendar, exam schedules, an on-line publications catalog and much more. We're always adding new features to ARRLWeb, so check it often!
ARRL makes licensing easy! For assistance locating local radio clubs, testing sites, and study materials, see our Learn About Amateur Radio page, or telephone Toll-Free 1-800-32-NEW HAM (800-326-3942). This special hot line is for prospective hams, only. If you’re already a ham, help "spread the word" about Amateur Radio. Refer to http://www.arrl.org/hamradio.html and this toll-free number on your club Web page, newsletters, recruitment posters, or anywhere you might find future hams.
We offer tours of Headquarters and W1AW at 9, 10 and 11 AM, and at 1, 2 and 3 PM. Special tour times may be arranged in advance. Bring your license and you can operate W1AW.
ARRL Headquarters is within easy driving distance from Interstates 84 and 91. In addition, Hartford is served by Amtrak with several trains daily from New York, Boston and beyond (call 1-800-USA-RAIL for more information). Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut (about 20 miles north of Headquarters), is served by many major carriers.
For more details, see Visiting Your Headquarters.
We're always looking for new material of interest to hams. Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope and ask for a copy of the ARRL Author's Guide. (It's also available via the ARRL Info Server, and via the World Wide Web at http://www.arrl.org/qst/aguide/.) The guide contains all the information you'll need to craft an article to meet our requirements. Send article ideas or manuscripts to the attention of the QST Editor (e-mail: qst@arrl.org).
Do you have an important news item, or a hot new book or other product? Let us know and we'll tell the world! Send your press releases and new book announcements to the attention of the QST Editor (e-mail: qst@arrl.org). New product announcements should be sent to the Product Review Editor (e-mail: reviews@arrl.org).
Send your Strays and Up Front materials to the QST Features Editor (e-mail: upfront@arrl.org). Be sure to include your name, address and daytime telephone number. We can accept black & white or color transparencies, slides or glossy prints. QST cannot be responsible for returning these materials, so do not send negatives or irreplaceable originals.
