Timeline

Competitions are held annually.

Deadline for transmittal of applications: October 3, 2008.

Attention Applicants: The Notice Inviting Applications for New Awards published in the Federal Register on July 21, 2008 contains an incorrect submission deadline date. The correct deadline date is October 3, 2008. A correction notice has been published in the Federal Register.

Please note: For the required fields of study, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores must be submitted at the time of application package submission.

Current Application

The Department requires that the Javits Fellowship application be submitted in hardcopy only. Please refer to the "Application and Submission Information" section of the Notice Inviting Applications for New Awards when submitting an application.


Other Applicant Information

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required as part of the application for a Javits fellowship in order to complete the financial need calculation. Applicants may obtain a copy of the FAFSA at the Web address below or from their institution's financial aid office. Note: Applicants are encouraged to submit the FAFSA electronically since the electronic filing is faster (as much as 7 to 14 days faster) than filing a paper FAFSA.
