Welcome to the Palm Beaches.

We are eager for you to arrive and become integrated into the great team we have at Station Lake Worth. However, We are well aware that the challenges of a permanent change of station are, and should be, your initial concerns. Please let us know what we can do to make this relocation as easy as possible. As it is in most large metropolitan areas, housing is expensive and may involve prolonged commutes. Take the time you need to find a good fit for you and your family. Your sponsor should be a valuable resource in providing "local knowledge" of housing, schools, and commute estimates. Feel free to bounce proposed housing alternatives off your sponsor (or another station member who lives in that neighborhood) to realistically make a final decision. Once you have yourself and family settled and can focus on the Coast Guard, we will get you involved in the great missions performed by Station Lake Worth! We are confident you'll enjoy your tour of duty at this station, and the many cultural and recreational activities available in South Florida. Again, welcome to the Palm Beaches!

HOUSING

Station Lake Worth Inlet has barracks available for single members . For those that are married and looking for housing on the economy some issues you will need to address include rent, deposits for electricity, water, telephone, basic furniture and food costs. Personnel should also be aware that they would need transportation to and from the unit.

Coast Guard government-owned family housing is available at Jupiter for enlisted personnel with families. The only prerequisite is that the member must have children.

The Jupiter Housing Community is approximately 12 miles north of CG Station Lake Worth on U.S. 1 under the beautiful Jupiter Lighthouse. The Jupiter site has two three and four bedroom units. The Jupiter community also includes a full-service commissary and exchange. Jupiter Housing Office: (561) 718-9570

Assignment to government-owned family housing is not mandatory. For wait time projections and more information on housing contact the housing office or BMC Simcic.

Applications for the Housing program will require:

Application For Assignment To Military Housing CG-5267
Current BAH/Dependency/Emergency Data and SGLI Validation (CG-4170A) from your current ADMIN Office or PERSRU
Copy of your travel orders (CG-5131).
Marriage Certificate and/or Birth Certificate.

More information on the number of bedrooms you qualify for can be found in the Coast Guard Housing Manual, COMDTINST M11101.13(series) Table 6-3.

The West Palm Beach BAH and COLA rates may be found at the Per Diem, Travel and Transportation Allowance Committee website.

Due to the high cost of housing in the West Palm Beach area and the time lag in receiving travel claim payments, it is recommended that you arrive with $2000.00 to $2500.00 in available funds for housing, deposits, etc.
