GOVERNOR’S LANA‘I COUNCIL OF ADVISORS TO FOCUS ON HAWAI‘I INNOVATION INITIATIVE

HONOLULU – The Governor’s Lana‘i Council of Advisors will meet on Wednesday, March 28, 5:00 p.m., at the Lana‘i Senior Center, 309 Seventh Street, Lana‘i City.  The public is invited to attend.

Mark Anderson, deputy director of the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, will present the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s Hawai‘i Innovation Initiative.  The initiative, which is designed help raise the standard of living for everyone in Hawai‘i, while decreasing over reliance on land development as the foundation of the state’s economy, features four main legislative components: Innovation in the Economy, Innovation in Education, Innovation in Workforce Development and Linking Hawai‘i to the Global Economy.

Governor Linda Lingle created councils of advisors to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government.  The Lana‘i Council of Advisors holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues, public priorities, and recommendations for state boards and commissions.

The members of the Governor’s Lana‘i Council of Advisors are Cindy Arruiza, John dela Cruz, Matthew Mano, Douglas Rolefson and Nani Watanabe.
