Progress and Outcomes: This report serves to document research conducted under a specific cooperative agreement between ARS and the University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent CRIS 6631-22000-003-00D Protection of Subtropical & Tropical Agriculture Commodities & Ornamentals from Exotic Insects. Studies have been initiated on the attractant, repellent and toxic effects of plant chemicals from tropical and subtropical trees that grow in south Florida. As part of this research, we are determining the appropriate methodologies to extract/collect chemicals from plant material.
