PISTACIA

The genus Pistacia is a member of the family Anacardiaceae. It is native to the Near East and Western Asia. It has been an important crop for the Mediterranean area for more than 3500 years. It is a dioecious evergreen with small apetalous flowers. The fruit is a drupe and the seed within the shell is a pistachio nut.
