Golden, Colo., April 22, 1999 — The Earth Day celebration planned for Saturday, April 24 at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden has been cancelled because of this week's snow storm. It will be rescheduled at a later date.

Those interested in exploring NREL will have other opportunities to see firsthand how the sun, wind and plant matter can be used to make energy. Tours of NREL's Solar Energy Research Facility, Outdoor Test Facility and Alternative Fuels User Facility are offered the first and third Thursdays of each month. Members of the public interested in signing up for a tour should call (303) 384-6565.

NREL's Visitors Center, which features interactive exhibits, educational videos and consumer-oriented literature on renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays.
