November 1st ~ COLORADO'S HISPANO HERITAGE FESTIVITIES AND "COLORADO'S HOME" TOUR
To many, Día de los Muertos may seem disrespectful and even a bit scary. However, sugar skulls, toy skeletons, fireworks, and terrific food are vibrant parts of this heartfelt ritual of honoring the dead. The festival involves all members of the family, including children. It's celebrated in Mexico and certain parts of the United States.

At 11:30 and again at 1 p.m., Angel Vigil will use stories and objects to look at the role of the Spanish/Mexican vaquero in the establishment of traditional cowboy practices in the American West. Vigil places the stories of the origins of the American cowboy in the historical context of the vaquero, the first true cowboy.
