First Annual U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency Statewide Business Procurement Summit to be Held in Oklahoma

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), in partnership with the Oklahoma City MBDC, Oklahoma Statewide NABDC, Langston University, and The Native American Resource Center, Inc. will hold its First Annual Oklahoma Statewide Business Procurement Summit on Thursday, April 29, 2004. The Summit will be held on the campus of Langston University, 4205 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The 1-day Minority Business Procurement Summit will be comprised of Federal, State, Local government agencies from throughout the state of Oklahoma.
Some of the topics to be discussed at the Procurement Summit are: Homeland Security, Doing Business with the Native American Tribes and Gaming, Franchising, Bonding, Doing Business with Tinker Air Force Base and the Veterans Administration, HUB Zone, Faith-Based Organizations and Venture Capital. Approximately 150 to 200 people are expected to attend the Business Procurement Summit.
The purpose of the summit is two-fold: To inform the public and private minority business organizations of the various public sector agencies available to assist them succeed in their business. Inform the public and private minority business organizations of the new market of doing business with Faith-Based Organizations and Native American Tribes.
Mr. John F. Iglehart, MBDA’s Dallas Regional Director, developed the idea for the summit to promote business opportunity throughout the state of Oklahoma.
