The mission of the Energy and Environment (E&E) Staff is to serve USDA by providing policy, guidance, information, and coordination of external reporting for our agencies and staff offices in these areas:

  • Alternative fuels and vehicles for USDA fleets
  • Energy conservation and efficiency for USDA facilities
  • Recycled content, biobased, and environmentally preferable products for use in USDA programs and operations
  • Waste prevention and recycling

The E&E Staff works with USDA agency personnel to accomplish the government-wide goals and requirements in each of these areas as established by law and executive orders.
