INFORMATION BULLETIN (01-47) May 11, 2001 Sustainable Fisheries Division 2:00 P.M. 907-586-7228 NMFS OPENS DIRECTED FISHING FOR PACIFIC COD BY VESSELS CATCHING PACIFIC COD FOR PROCESSING BY THE OFFSHORE COMPONENT IN THE WESTERN REGULATORY AREA OF THE GULF OF ALASKA The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific cod by vessels catching Pacific cod for processing by the offshore component in the Western Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time, May 18, 2001, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. This action is necessary to fully use the total allowable catch of Pacific cod in that area. Other closures remain in full force and effect. This information bulletin only provides notice of a regulatory change.
