Welcome to the DEQ Permit Expert.

This program will help you determine whether you need a permit for your project or facility from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. By answering a series of questions, you will receive a list of DEQ permits and regulations that might apply to your activity.

To start, select the DEQ region where the activity is located. Then, check the box beside one or more activities that apply to you or your facility. If you select more than one activity, you will be asked all questions from all sections before the final results are displayed.

Once all the questions have been completed, you will see a results page that is tailored to the answers you gave, including contact information, links, web resources, and possible regulations that apply to your activity.

You may encounter links along the way that provide you with expanded information. These links will open in a new window, and will not affect your progess or the questions you have already answered.

Discharge or treatment of wastewater or storm water
Installation or construction of equipment or activities that may produce air emissions

Requirements:
This program operates best in Internet Explorer 6+ and Firefox 1+. This application requires that cookies be enabled in your browser. JavaScript should be enabled for some functions to work properly. Only a DEQ employee can make an official permitting decision. This program should be used as a guide to help you determine what permits might apply to your activity. It is not intended to provide an official or binding permitting determination.
