Meet 2004 ENERGY STAR Award Winner University of Michigan
Web Conference: Managing Energy Across Multiple Sites

Wednesday, May 19, 2004, 1:00 P.M. – 2:30 P.M. (Eastern)

Controlling energy in one facility presents challenges, but when you have scores of buildings it’s a whole different ballgame. A strategic approach, along with consistent administration of your energy management program, is a necessity for success.

  • Betsy Dutrow and Fred Schoeneborn of ENERGY STAR will provide an overview of the critical factors for creating a successful cross-facility program;
  • Bill Verge, Associate Director of Plant Operations at the University of Michigan, will explain what makes the University’s energy management program successful for its 17 colleges and over 100 facilities;
  • Bruce Bremer, Manager of Facility Engineering for Toyota Motor Manufacturing, North America, Inc., will discuss how Toyota’s energy management program works and how it achieves improvement across the North American manufacturing plants.

Sign up for the free Web conference by selecting the conference on May 19, 2004 at 1 P.M. on the calendar. The ENERGY STAR Netspoke web site will guide you through the rest of the registration process.

ENERGY STAR Qualified Vending Machines

Refrigerated beverage vending machines can now earn the ENERGY STAR. ENERGY STAR qualified vending machines are 35 percent more energy-efficient than standard new machine models and will save building owners up to $90/year in electricity costs per machine. Your institution provides the power for campus vending machines, so specify ENERGY STAR qualified machines in your contract.
