The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), at the Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota, is seeking a permanent, full-time, Supervisory Research Scientist and Research Leader for the Micronutrient Absorption and Metabolism Research Unit. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting independent research and leading a multidisciplinary research unit focused on the role of foods in maintaining a healthy body weight and preventing chronic disease (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and osteoporosis). The incumbent plans, implements, and reports the results of research on the impact of bioactive components of foods on metabolic endpoints related to physiologic, immune and/or cognitive function, and/or risks of obesity, non-insulin dependent diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and/or cancer. The incumbent plans, implements and reports the results of research designed to elucidate the specific nutritional/health values of foods, particularly those produced in the Northern Plains.
