Background: Since 1976, the U.S. National Science Foundation has supported an annual search for meteorites during the Antarctic summer, late November – January. Professor McFadden was invited to be part of the 2007 expedition to the Miller Range of Antarctica. The team of eight scientists spent 42 days searching for meteorites on foot and by snowmobile and lived in tents set up on the ice. In this webinar, Professor McFadden recounts the excitement of her scientific expedition and how it has propelled her enthusiasm to explore the small bodies in the solar system through NASA missions: NEAR, Deep Impact, Dawn, and EPOXI.
