Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR

Throughout the year, EPA collaborates with ENERGY STAR retail, manufacturer, and utility partners on the national campaign to encourage all individuals to join the national movement of Americans taking small steps that add up to a big difference in the fight against global warming. A key component of the Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR campaign is the pledge. The ENERGY STAR Pledge includes a number of actions consumers can take, from home improvement ideas to choosing ENERGY STAR qualified products.

The links below will take you to training materials and tools related to the products included in the ENERGY STAR Pledge and national campaign outreach. These resources are designed to help you, your staff, and your vendors communicate effectively to consumers about the benefits of purchasing products that have earned the ENERGY STAR.

  • Lighting
If every American household replaced just one light with an ENERGY STAR light, we would save more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent 9 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per year, equivalent to the emissions of about 800,000 cars.
  • Heating and Cooling
If every American household serviced their heating and cooling systems, changed the air filters, inspected their ducts for leaks, and programmed their thermostat for energy savings while they're away or asleep, we would save more than $14 billion in annual energy costs while preventing 160 billion pounds of greenhouse gases, equivalent to the emissions of 14 million cars.
  • Sealing and Insulating
If every American household added insulation to their attic, we would save nearly $1.5 billion in annual energy costs and prevent nearly 25 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per year, equivalent to the emissions of 2 million cars.
  • Office Equipment
If every home office product purchased in America this year were ENERGY STAR qualified, we would save $200 million in annual energy costs while preventing almost 3 billion pounds of greenhouse gases, equivalent to the emisssions of 250,000 cars.
  • Appliances
If every refrigerator, dishwasher, and clothes washer purchased in the U.S. this year were ENERGY STAR qualified, we would save $660 million in annual energy costs while preventing 4.5 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per year, equivalent to 370,000 cars.
