SEPTEMBER
- September 25-27, the Heritage Programs office will hold a series of free training and information sessions beginning the Thursday evening through Saturday at the Four Rivers Cultural Center, 676 S.W. 5th Ave., Ontario, Oregon 97914. OCTOBER
- October 9-10, the State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) will meet in Astoria, OR to consider several properties and three historic districts for nominaiton to the National Register of Historic Places. Meeting details and agenda are available at the SACHP Home Page.
- October 23 & 24, 2008 Salem, 9:00-4:00
Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) and the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries (OCHC) will co-sponsor a two day workshop to explore sources for researching people and places. Topics will include how to find sources, what information can be gleaned from sources, electronic sources and GIS data, and the reliability and presentation of information from various sources (internet, self published, oral history, family history, etc.). We will explore local resources including the State Archives! There is no fee for attending the workshop, but attendance is limited to 30.
