ATV Grant Details
Who Can Apply

  •  ATV rider in Blue Mountain State Forest
    ATV riders on Blue Mountain OHV trails.
    Public agencies that have a responsibility of providing OHV recreation, including federal (BLM, USFS, NPS) and state (OPRD, ODFW, ODF) agencies and local government (cities, town, counties).
  • Private land managers who provide and maintain public OHV recreation.
  • Registered non-profit OHV clubs.

Project Types
ATV projects must align with the long-range goals and objectives of Oregon Trails 2005-2014: A Statewide Action Plan, as well as the current Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP).
 
Acquisition, planning and development projects are considered during each grant cycle. However, there are three grant cycles each year, organized by project type:
  1. Operation and Maintenance
  2. First Aid and Police Services,
  3. Safety Education

Examples of eligible projects include:
 
Acquisition – Acquiring land for public OHV recreation.
 
Planning – Planning for OHV recreation, including environmental studies, feasibility studies and appraisals.
 
Development – Developing public OHV recreation areas, including final design, engineering, site surveys, new trails and facilities and major rehabilitation of existing trails and facilities.
 
Emergency Medical and Law Enforcement – Providing emergency medical attention to OHV users in riding areas, such as paying for medical equipment, services and supplies. Law enforcement projects include providing services and equipment with citation authority to OHV riding areas.
 
Operation and maintenance – Operating and maintaining OHV trails and facilities. Operating projects include employees, trail patrols, camp hosts or trail volunteers. Maintenance projects include services and projects for keeping up OHV trails and facilities.
 
Safety Education – Educating the public on OHV safety issues, environmental issues, riding ethics, and regulations. Projects include brochures/maps, signs, and personnel.
 

Match Criteria
Project sponsors must have a minimum 20% match for the requested grant. Planning projects are the exception and require a 50% match. Matches include local budget funds, federal revenue sharing funds, local agency labor or equipment, other grants, donations of land, labor, equipment, or any combination of the above.
