Michelle Hoersch is the Women's Health Coordinator in Region V for the Office on Women's Health in the Department of Health and Human Services. This region covers six states surrounding the Great Lakes including Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. Michelle has a Masters degree in Health Law and Administration from DePaul University in Chicago. Michelle has been with the Region V Office on Women's Health since December of 1996.

Before joining the Office on Women's Health, Michelle was on faculty at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago in the Department of Preventive Medicine her work focusing largely on women's health and cardiovascular research. Her most recent position in the Department of Preventive Medicine was as the Director of Recruitment for the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) funded by the National Institutes of Health. Prior to the site being awarded the WHI, Michelle was the Research Manager for the Department's Clinical Research Center where she oversaw the Center's clinical trials. She also worked with adolescents as a Mental Health Worker at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, also in the Chicago area.

Michelle works to develop and secure programs and activities to improve the health of women across the lifespan and from diverse racial and ethnic groups with particular emphasis on disadvantaged and underrepresented groups of women by providing leadership, promoting collaborations to advance women's health issues, and developing projects and programs to increase health equity through a gender-centered approach to women and girls. Michelle also believes strongly in supporting internships to promote the development of young public health professionals interested in women's health.
