NOTE - that most were NOT selected for an easy reading level, but rather because they are humdinging classics of literature. Some, like Hemingway, Hinton, Vonnegut, King, Steinbeck, Jackson and Poe may be useful for emerging readers? Poe and others here are certainly great for reading aloud. At any rate, we recommend this list of fiction for all you literacy practioners out there, and of course your kids and your moms.
