Our Mission
The mission of the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of State and Veterans Nursing Homes is to provide superior nursing care in an environment that enhances the quality of life of each resident.
Our Vision
Keeping the Promise…
The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) is committed to providing superior care for Colorado’s Veterans and all other residents in our State and Veterans Nursing Homes. Calling upon a full range of professionals from nurses, therapists, dietary staff and administrators to architects, engineers, human resource and purchasing offices strategically located across the state, CDHS is unique in its ability to meet the challenges of the State and Veterans Nursing Homes’ mission.
The Office of State and Veterans Nursing Homes operates six nursing homes located throughout Colorado. Five of these homes are specifically for veterans and veteran family members. They are located in in Aurora, Florence, Homelake (Monte Vista), Rifle and Walsenburg. Trinidad State Nursing Home is not a state veterans home and is therefore available to all eligible Colorado residents. All six facilities are licensed by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment. Each facility offers skilled nursing care and each facility is Medicaid certified.
