Carl Washburne campsite closures Oct. 6-Nov. 3
A project to upgrade electrical and water hookup service will close several sites this fall. A-Loop sites 16 through 21 and B-Loop sites 30 through 57 will close Oct. 6-Nov. 3. The second phase beginning Nov. 4 will close A-Loop sites 2 through 15 and 22 through 29.

La Pine State Park campground closed Oct. 20, 2008 - May 1, 2009
The campground will be closed during a project to upgrade the electrical service to the electrical and full hookup sites. The entire campground will be closed due to service interruptions and construction traffic. The Day Use area restroom will be closed. Hiking trails remain open.

Jackson Kimball campground temporarily closed Oct. 5-8
The campground will be closed temporarily Oct. 5-8 for road and campsite parking paving. Construction delays may change timeframes.

Repairs begin along Banks-Vernonia State Trail
Work to repair storm damage that occurred on the Banks-Vernonia State Trail in December 2007 will begin this October. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department will temporarily close sections of the trail, as needed, beginning with areas where major mudslides and logjams have diverted water flows between the Tophill and Beaver Creek trailheads.

Champoeg Visitor Center closes Oct. 6-10 for improvements
Champoeg State Heritage Area's visitor center will close Oct. 6-10 for building improvements. The center will reopen Oct. 11 with limited access to its information desk and gift store.
 
Building improvements beginning Oct. 6 will include upgrades to the center's heating and ventilation systems with energy-efficient fixtures. Workers also will install new carpeting

The center's entire museum exhibit area, closed for renovations since Aug. 21, will remain closed to the public until mid-November. New exhibits to replace ones originally displayed in 1977 and refurbished in 1983 will be installed beginning Oct. 13.

Blue-green algae health advisory issued for Dexter Reservoir
For more information about the blue-green algae advisory, visit the Army Corps of Engineers website. Dexter and Lowell state recreation sites are located along the banks of the reservoir.

Fire camp in Joseph Stewart State Park; blue-green algae health advisory issued for Lost Creek Reservoir
A fire camp in the park's group camping area is supporting firefighting efforts for the 6,000 acre Middle Fork Fire 12 miles east of Prospect.
For more information about the blue-green algae advisory, visit the Army Corps of Engineers website. Joseph H. Stewart State Park is located along the banks of the reservoir.

Low water leaves Farewell Bend boat docks high and dry
The boat ramp at Farewell Bend has been closed due to a severely low water level in Brownlee Reservoir.

Fire restrictions in effect in some parks
Minam State Recreation Area -  All fires, including campfires and charcoal barbecues, prohibited. Propane stoves are allowed.
Viento State Park - All fires and charcoal barbecues prohibited in the south camp (B loop). Propane stoves allowed.

Alfred Loeb shower building closed
The shower building is closed until further notice. Campers may show their receipt from Loeb and shower at Harris Beach free of charge. Restrooms remain open.

The campground at Oswald West State Park is closed until further notice. Details are here. The day-use trails and beach access remain open.

Bridge construction adjacent to Beverly Beach State Park
The Oregon Department of Transportation is building the new Spencer Creek Bridge adjacent to the park. Some construction activities may cause loud noise during your stay at Beverly Beach. Work also may occur in the evenings and on Saturdays. The beach access trail may be closed for short periods. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Work is scheduled to be finished in late 2008.
