Internship Program

Loran L. "Stub" Stewart served nearly 40 years on the State Parks and Recreation Advisory committee and the Oregon Parks and Recreation commission. Oregon State Parks grew by leaps and bounds thanks in part to his enthusiasm and commitment.

With the creation of the L.L. Stewart Oregon State Parks Student Internship Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation in 1990, forestry students have been given the opportunity to undertake summer internships with the forestry section. More than 25 students have worked on a variety of projects throughout the state.
Oregon Teacher on Summer Assignment (OR-TOSA)
2006 OR-TOSA Program Teacher
The Oregon Parks & Recreation Department hires a teacher intern as part of Oregon Forest Resources Institute's (OFRI) Oregon Teacher on Summer Assignment (OR-TOSA) program. The OR-TOSA program provides an opportunity for a teacher to work with private and public companies to get hands-on forestry experience. As part of the program, the teacher develops a lesson plan to take back to the classroom. It is an exceptional opportunity for teachers to step out of their element and bring a new resource to the classroom.
