Is anyone interested Job Announcement Executive Director Program Description: The SEIU 1199Upstate/Health Alliance of CNY Job Security and Re-training Fund provides unionized hospital workers with a wide array of educational opportunities including tuition reimbursement and income support at the post-secondary level in health-related fields, educational counseling, computer classes, basic literacy tutoring, high school equivalency. The Fund also provides continuing educational opportunities to workers in order to enhance skills and knowledge in workers' current occupations. A Board of Trustees consisting of an equal number of union appointees and management appointees runs the Fund. Executive Director's Role: The Executive Director is responsible for day-to-day administration, development and long- term planning of the program. Key responsibilities are to encourage and facilitate participation in the Fund's, as well as research and write grants to help the fund grow. Duties: Ø Administer educational programming at learning center and coordinate with Crouse School of Nursing, Onondaga Community College and any other educational institutions that offer programs in health-related fields. Ø Administer tuition reimbursement program and payment of stipends. Ø Work cooperatively with the staff and Union and employer trustees to develop a vision for the Fund and a long-range plan for expanding programming. Ø Insure implementation of trustee decisions including measuring outcomes, linking training and employment, and program and budget plans. Ø Encourage, counsel, and recruit participants through on-site visits to participating employer's facilities. Ø Prepare grant requests and reports in private and public sector. Ø Take responsibility for budgeting, financial management, and grant administration. Qualifications: Ø Bachelors Degree in a related field, or equivalent education as a result of on the job experience. Ø Minimum 5 years experience in fund development and grants writing Ø Demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of working people Ø Experience in adult education and/or worker education Ø Administrative and supervisory experience Ø Demonstrated ability in group facilitation and motivation Ø Excellent leadership skills Ø Ability to coordinate multiple training programs Ø Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills Ø Basic word processing, spreadsheet and database skills Ø Experience in budget management Ø Ability to work as a team player A base salary commensurate with education and experience, complemented with a full benefit package.
